Calling All Literary Agents, Via Your Blog

Miles Klee took to his Tumblr today to announce that he’s looking for a new literary agent:
Representation for literary fiction is not typically secured through one’s blog, and I’ll be sending official query letters to several agencies that have expressed interest in my work; nevertheless, I feel it couldn’t hurt to have this pitch out there, on the open market, in case it strikes someone else’s fancy.
Why not, right?
I’ve heard that submitting to literary agents can involve actual printing out and mailing of things, so if you can avoid it, by all means try.
Plus I’m all for putting what you need out into the universe / your twitter account where people who might be able to help you can see it. Apartments, jobs, soulmates. What could go wrong, besides someone murdering you? I’m sure the prospect of putting an agent query out in public would make many people feel uncomfortable, but getting over yourself and accepting that you have to be able to pitch your work and present yourself as “marketable” (sorry) human entity is just part of our late-capitalism cross to bear. Plus what’s more potentially humiliating than writing a book of fiction that inadvertently reveals your innermost fears and desires?
It reads like a great query to me, and I bet Miles Klee gets an agent this way. Plus, 100,000 followers on Tumblr probably means at least 1,000 books sales, right? Basically a best-seller.
