Monday Check-In

It’s Monday, which means it’s time to check in on our weekend spending.

Last Friday I told you I was joining the local YMCA, and I’ve already been twice. It’s so great! Everyone’s friendly, the facilities are top-level, and nobody gave me any unsolicited advice even though it was probably obvious that I was using a squat rack for the very first time. I went in on the “100 Days of Summer” special, which means I paid $100 for my first 100 days of membership. After that it’ll be $66.50/month.

I also made an unplanned purchase this weekend. When I moved into my apartment back in November, I bought these two feather pillows at Bed Bath & Beyond — and they were so cheap compared to the other pillows (it was seriously something like $2 for $20) that I figured that BB&B was probably trying to get rid of them, but whatever, might as well take advantage of a deal.

Seven months later, the pillows had gone from fluffy to crunchy. After googling “how to wash feather pillows” I ran ’em through the laundry, where they came out smelling (and there’s only one word for this) fowl.

So I spent $72.22 on two new pillows. Let’s hope these last at least a year.

Total spending: $172.22.

How about you?
