Share Your Success Tuesday
It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to share our recent financial successes.
This week, my success begins with a financial fail: I was tallying up my 2017 business expenses for tax purposes, and realized that I had paid a designer enough money that I’d need to report that payment to the IRS and file a 1099.
I’m used to receiving 1099s, not filing them — and I knew I was already past the 1099 filing deadline, so I immediately called the IRS for guidance. After a 30-minute hold session, I spoke to a very helpful representative who walked me through the process of filing an extension request (so I wouldn’t have to pay a penalty for missing the deadline) and then taught me how to file both a 1099 and the accompanying 1026 form.
Over the phone.
Maybe this should be “Share the IRS’s Success” Tuesday, for me.
What about you?
