Share Your Success Tuesday

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to share our financial successes.

(Yes, this is also a new thing. On Monday, we’ll set some financial goals; on Tuesday, we’ll report on our successes.)

Last week, I successfully saved money on groceries by buying less-expensive versions of the products on my list. I bought Smuckers Natural Blackberry Fruit Spread instead of the Smuckers Natural Strawberry Fruit Spread I usually get, because blackberry was on sale; I also bought Sara Lee white bread (“with whole grains”) because it was on sale for $1.99, instead of the $3.99 wheat bread I usually buy. I looked for smaller apples and bananas, because they sell by weight, and larger cucumbers, because they sell by cucumber.

This isn’t a very large financial success, but I’m trying to cut back where I can to balance out my other summer expenses, and ending up with a $56 grocery bill when I estimated I might spend $80 is a good deal.

What about you?
