Monday Check-In

Happy Monday! Let’s check in and see how our weekend spending compares to our estimates.

Last Friday, I estimated that I would spend $60 on groceries and $7 on laundry. I ended up spending $68.25 on groceries and $10.50 on laundry. I wasn’t able to find the coveted pumpkin spice candy corn, but I did get peanut butter cup candy corn (which was unfortunately disgusting), ordinary flavor candy corn, and that mixed kind that comes with the pumpkins. (Safeway had a “three bags for $5” sale.)

I also had an earbud-related accident; when I was taking my earbuds out of my purse, one of the little plastic buds came off and fell onto a really gross part of the sidewalk, so I spent $21.91 on what I thought would be a “higher quality pair” and then was really disappointed by the lack of noise cancellation and spent another $16.43 to replace the same brand I had been using. (Gumy. I know, the name’s almost as terrible as peanut butter cup candy corn.)

Lastly, my $200-per-month clothing budget kicked over on the first of October, so I spent $39.13 at Ann Taylor Loft and $78.67 at Old Navy. I also used part of my $50 Amazon gift card to buy five pairs of socks for $19.99.

Total spending, not counting the gift card purchase: $234.89.

How about you?
