A Money Diary: June 14

$23.71 at the pharmacy and $2 on a ginger ale and one of those big sour gummy keys that I had two bites of and then promptly threw out.

Daily total: $25.71.

Truth time: I’m over this project. Which makes sense — I’m halfway through, which is usually when I give up on most things, like veganism or journaling or watching The Sopranos. The sheer amount of time I’ve spent thinking about money this month is exhausting, which is not to say that I don’t otherwise think about it — I do, all the time — but the attention being paid to those thoughts, and the accompanying guilt, is very bothersome. It reminds me of patterns of disordered eating: regardless of how “healthy” you are, if every calorie consumed is counted, assessed, measured, and accompanied by guilt, you’re doing it wrong.
