THANK YOU
I have a bookshelf now, thanks to Team Billfold. ❤

Team Billfold bought me a bookshelf this month, and I wanted to say THANK YOU.
This bookshelf is the corner-shaped twin to my kitchen shelf, so it fits thematically with the rest of my apartment.

I also discovered that my floor is not perfectly level (that’s why I stacked the books on top of each other on the highest shelves; otherwise they fall over) so sometime in the next few days I may end up taking all the books off, putting cardboard under the appropriate leg, and putting them all back on again.
(Yes, I love organizing.)
I haven’t said a lot about how tight my finances have been this year, in part because it seems ridiculous to say “I do not have a lot of extra money” when a big pile of paychecks are all scheduled to arrive literally any day now. But yeah, I’ve been spending 2016 living on less cash than I need to pay my expenses (I’ve had to dip into my savings twice), and in a few days I’ll get $7,497.17 in checks, and at that point, well…
Freelance taxes will get 22 percent, or $1,649.38.
Debt will get 20 percent, or $1,499.43.
Savings will get 10 percent, or $749.72, plus the $1,500 I borrowed from my savings last month because I needed cash. (The $1,000 I borrowed earlier this year may never get paid back.)
That leaves $2,098.64 for my checking account, minus the $995 I’ll use to pay my rent and the $245.69 for my health insurance premium, which leaves $857.95 out of the original $7,497.17, much of which will go towards June living expenses (but some of which I hope will be discretionary cash).
It’s funny how money works like that, and how quickly it disappears. But I’m lucky to even be earning enough to have the ability to save and pay off my debt at the rate I’m doing.
I’m also lucky to have you.
Thank you. ❤
