Taking a Different Flight in Exchange for a Voucher

I received a screen that looked like the one above while checking in for my flight to San Juan, and quickly hit “no thanks.” I was traveling with friends and desperately wanted to escape winter and no travel voucher amount would have caused me to change my plans (this travel site points out that the maximum amount you can bid is $800).

I’ve never taken a voucher in exchange for being bumped (and Lifehacker reminds us to ask for cash when being involuntarily bumped from a flight), but I’m curious about other people’s experiences: Have you taken a voucher? What did you do with it?
