Bus Driver Walks Off Job, Throws Child Keys

In a story somewhat reminiscent of the JetBlue fight attendant who quit by grabbing a beer and exiting the plane via the emergency slide, a Texas bus driver pulled over, stopped the engine, threw the keys to one of the children, and told her charges that they could drive themselves home. Really!

Baines Middle School students on the bus said it started when the driver became angry because several children on the bus were being loud. The students said the driver stopped the bus on a busy bridge in traffic, packed up her purse and got up to leave.

“We asked her, ‘Why did you stop the bus?’ And she turned off the engine and threw the keys at me, and said, ‘No, since you want to ask questions and make problems, you drive the bus.’ It was terrifying,” said student Morgan Billingsley.

Terrifying is a naked Ukrainian ex-president, but sure, I can see how your bus driver flipping out at you might also be scary. Especially when she has a history of being unstable / racist. (“Several parents said this is not the first time they have had problems with the driver. “She’s used the N word with our children,” said Reshonda Tate Billingsley.”) Definitely less folk hero potential here.

Once I was let go from a terrible job when I was about to take out the office trash, and I still dutifully dragged the huge Hefty bags down two flights of stairs and out to the dumpster at the end of the loading dock before returning to the office to hand over my keys, because I am a Good Girl. But oh, what I fantasized about doing with that garbage … Have you ever walked off a job in a memorable fashion? Was it actually satisfying or did you regret it later?
