Elderly Patrons Allowed to Stay at McDonald’s Except During Lunch

An update on the story about the group of elderly Korean patrons at a McDonald’s in Queens who tussled with management over how long they were allowed to stay after buying their coffees and fries. The Times reports:

The group met with the owner, Jack Bert, on Sunday at the office of Assemblyman Ron Kim. Mr. Kim announced at a news conference on Monday that the group could sit at the restaurant, in Flushing, for as long as it wanted, except from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Basically, the group is free to meet and stay to socialize as long as they want, but not during the busy lunch hours. They’ve agreed to meet at local senior centers during those hours.
