The Tiger Cubs Grow Up

Slate looked at a study examining if the “Tiger Mom” style of parenting actually results in high-achieving, successful kids and found that no, that may not actually be the case. The data in this study showed that children from Asian American families who practiced strict parenting had a tendency to be depressed and low-achieving.

I was particularly interested in the results because I’m the product of tiger parents, and as someone who did well academically and turned out to be a (relatively) well-adjusted adult, the only thing I can really add is that sometimes, to live the life you want to live, you have to find a balance between listening to your parents and rebelling a little bit.
