I haven’t busted my estimate in a long time, but it happened this weekend while I was having dinner. And I feel okay with that because I had a really terrific time. My friends and I went to wd~50 (which is Wylie Dufresne’s restaurant for any Top Chef viewers out there) and spent $203.75 each, including tip (my estimate for dinner was $150), which included five courses, plus an amuse bouche and mignardise, a cocktail, many glasses of wine, and an amaro to end the night. And we think the maitre d’ got wind that one of my friends works for a food magazine, because we were offered a tour of the kitchen before we left (top photo), which was neat. I had estimated $200 for the weekend, but with dinner and a grocery store trip, I ended up spending $265.79.
