Awareness Want Ad for a ‘Torturer’ is Effective

Instead of talking about Facebook, or Mark Zuckerberg this morning, let’s talk about this job ad in The Guardian for a “torturer.” It reads: “If this sounds like a sick joke, that’s only because jobs like this aren’t usually advertised.” That’s fair — let’s not pretend the U.S. doesn’t use torture to get information — and it turns out the ad is actually an awareness campaign from a medical foundation that treats torture victims. Consider us aware! I wonder if £21,000 ($33,000) is what torturers are actually paid, because that seems like a terrible salary for a terrible job. [via Boing Boing]
