Monday Check-In

It’s Monday, which means it’s time to check in on our weekend spending.

My parents and I made a day trip to visit my aunt this weekend, and on Friday I estimated I would spend around $5 on a snack and a bottle of water at a gas station. I ended up spending $11.21 on two twelve-packs of soda (for my aunt’s birthday) and my parents bought my fizzy water and protein bar on the way home.

Saturday was also Cedar Rapids’ annual Market After Dark, a big outdoor concert/vendor showcase (it’s technically a “farmers’ market,” but there are only a handful of farmers and a lot more people selling baked goods, sandwiches, kettle corn, makeup kits, baby clothes, etc.). I ended up paying $3 for a cup of edible cookie dough because I’d never seen anyone selling it before — and then the event turned out to have multiple edible cookie dough vendors, so I guess it’s a trend?

I also spent $40.28 on Amazon to replace a bunch of household stuff I’d run out of (like hair dye). I was tempted to leave the stuff in my cart until Monday so I’d be closer to my estimate, but I was all “eh, that’s too much work and it feels like cheating.”

Total spending: $53.49.

How about you?
