Monday Check-In

Happy Monday! It’s a holiday week, so we’re going to be running a few features today and tomorrow, and we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming on Wednesday, July 5.

But before I go off and make a bunch of “homemade Firework Oreos” for the Fourth of July—because I went to seven different convenience stores and grocery stores within a two-mile radius and couldn’t find any—I wanted to give us the chance to check in with our weekend spending.

On Friday, I estimated that I would spend $130 on groceries and party food.

I ended up spending $174.46, in part because I did stuff like “buy three loaves of $1.99 bread because it was on sale.” (I’ve got enough bread for the entire month now.)

I also saved $44.86 by using my Safeway app to track coupons and deals, so… I guess that means something!
