Monday Check-in

Well, this weekend took a turn for the unexpected, but not in a bad way. On Saturday, I sold some shoes and one ill-advised formal jumpsuit to Crossroads and made $69.04. Because I am horrible with cash even though I think everyone should use it more, I bought The Seed-keepers for $18 and a new pair of headphones to replace the two very cheap panic purchases that broke within weeks for $25.

When I was standing in line at Crossroads waiting for my money, my friend texted me; it was her birthday on Saturday and she lives in Boston, but wanted to know if I could come meet her in New Haven where her sister lives. I had no other plans and because I woke up very early on Saturday for no good reason, I agreed. We went to see Get Out, got food at a bar with a very bad ska band playing in the other room and then watched Neighbors 2 — highly reccommended, don’t @ me—and fell asleep.

On Sunday, I took an early train home after getting breakfast sandwiches. For the ride back to the city, I bought a sack of pignoli and a weird lunch of marinated octopus and mushrooms. Full of energy upon my arrival home and emboldened by the fact that it was still light out and warm, I went to a garden center near my house, bought a bromeliad and some pots, repotted a bunch of plants and arranged them on a table that I found on the street. Grocery shopping was off the table til Monday, so I bought a poke bowl from the new place that opened up next door.

I thought I’d spend around $200 this weekend but in actuality, I made $69 and spent $179, so maybe it all came out in the wash.
