Do 1 Thing Before Month-End

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time to Do 1 Thing.

Today, my 1 Thing is to plan out my next month of freelancing work. I already know which freelancing assignments I’ll need to complete in May, but I still need to put every workday on a spreadsheet and figure out which individual tasks I’ll complete on each day. If I’ve got an afternoon blocked off for a KlientBoost draft, I can’t work on an article for The Write Life during that same afternoon. If I’m writing an article involving interviews, I need to start identifying potential interviewees two weeks before the day I’m scheduled to start the first draft. Doing this type of detailed planning in advance helps me get everything done, and slots all of the components involved in my workload together.

I usually do this spreadsheeting closer to the 15th of every month, but I’ve had so much work this April that I haven’t been able to get it done—and it looks like May is going to be much the same.

How about you?
