How Much Would You Need to Earn to Afford a One-bedroom in Your County?

The National Low Income Housing Coalition looked at fair market rents (according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development), and calculated how much a worker would need to earn per hour to afford a one-bedroom apartment in her county (the “housing wage”).

According to their data, Marin County in California and San Francisco tied for the most expensive, with workers needing to earn $29.83 per hour to afford a one-bedroom. Six California counties made it on the list of the top 10 most expensive counties.
