What an Actual McDonald’s Worker’s Budget Looks Like

CNN talked to four McDonald’s employees about what their actual budgets look like, and unsurprisingly, they’re not making enough money. The budget seen here is from Devonte Yates, a 21-year-old who works part-time at McDonald’s while living at home with his mother and pursuing an associate’s degree in criminal justice (because, you know, he aspires to get a job that actually pays a living wage). His budget is in the negative because he can’t actually pay his full tuition bill on the money he’s earning, but the school is willing to look the other way until he graduates next semester and has to square away the bill. CNN also talked to a man who works two jobs — both of them at two separate McDonald’s locations because he can’t get enough hours at a single McDonald’s job to make ends meet.
