Taking the Time to Go Back for That Dollar

Amanda, one of our readers, wrote in to tell us the following story of making the effort to get a small refund:

I just went to the grocery store across the street on my lunch break to pick up some things I needed for a recipe tonight. My original total came to $10.41.

The cashier was so quick — and I wasn’t even thinking — that I completely forgot to scan my discount card. I told the first employee I saw and she showed me to the customer service desk. I explained what happened and gave her my phone number to look up my card. She looked at my receipt and gave me $1.20 from her drawer.

I just looked at my receipt and the original transaction was 6 minutes ago. The whole refund process probably took less than a minute.

I immediately thought of you guys because I never thought I’d go back for a dollar, but it was so easy!
