How Much Do You Spend on Transportation Each Month?

Last week we tackled groceries. This week we’re asking: How much do you spend on getting around each month? I figured a monthly estimate would be better than a weekly one in this case. Tell us: A) Whether you take public transportation, drive a car, bike, or any combination of the three; B) Your average monthly transportation costs, including the cost of transit passes, taxis, biking, gas, toll fees, car payments, car share programs, and insurance.

I’ll start:
A) I take public transportation, usually the subway. I only take cabs on rare or special occasions.
B) I spend about $100 a month on my pay-per-ride metrocard.
