Hanging Out in Hunts Point

Cassie Rodenberg writes about addiction and mental health for Scientific American. Chris Arnade quit a job on Wall Street to take photos documenting addiction. The two are collaborating on a project about addiction in Hunts Point, a neighborhood in the Bronx. The Atlantic has a good overview of the project, but really you should read Cassie’s posts (this post about inviting some of the Hunts Point regulars to Thanksgiving, is complex and wonderful) and scroll through Chris’s picture’s and captions. From his flickr, a photo and conversation with a man named Jason: “Being a junkie is the hardest job I have ever had. I am always hustling, always working to get the next fix, looking for the next place to sleep. I got to get $100 a day, somehow.” Photo by Chris Arnade
