A Possibly Perfect Gift for Your Friend Who Is a Financial Mess

Ten days ago, I received an email:

Dear Logan,

Today on the coast, near Manzanita, I came into possession of an object that has the power to change your life. What is your mailing address?

I replied with my address.

Yesterday I got the package. The package did not contain a wad of cash (disappointment). It also did not contain a note. Inside was a tape recorder and two batteries. I put the batteries in the tape recorder, and pushed play.

“Ding-ding-dong! This is Shad Helmstetter. This is self talk, for money and financial freedom. Every time you think about, every time you talk to yourself about money, these are some things that you say.”

I pushed stop. I opened the tape player and took out the tape.

William is hilarious, obviously. He might also be a genius. Only time, my devotion to the method, and my bank account balance will tell.
