Looking Forward to Summer

What’s happening in your city this summer? One of the things I love the most about living in New York City is that even when I was barely getting by, I was able to go out and do so many things that required little or no money at all. Two of the things I look forward to is Celebrate Brooklyn, and Summer Stage, two big summer festivals with a variety of musical acts and performances. Celebrate Brooklyn just released their lineup this year, which includes free performances by Lyle Lovett, the Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and a sing-a-long to The Muppets Movie. There are also benefit concerts by Wilco, the Dirty Projectors, and Childish Gambino for $45 or less. I remember one summer a few years ago sitting on the grass with friends, eating churros and listening to a free concert by Jenny Lewis. It might be because today is rainy and terrible, but I can’t wait for summer to arrive.
