Is Your Job Safe From Robots?

Type it into a random box on the internet and find out!

Wall-E

If you haven’t already seen this on Twitter, here it is:

Will Robots Take My job?

Clicking that link will take you to an unnervingly plum-colored screen, where a giant blinking cursor invites you to “enter your job.”

Then it will tell you the likelihood of your job being taken by robots.

My job is apparently “totally safe” from robots—there is only a 3.8 percent chance that a robot could write this story, I guess?

Yesterday, I used my human capacity for both humor and schadenfreude to make a joke about an accountant someday losing her job to a robot, so I typed “accountant” into the thing and it said “YOU ARE DOOMED.”

I mean, not me. But accountants: you are doomed. There is a 94 percent probability that robots will take your job.

This site was developed by Mubashar Iqbal and designed by Dimitar Raykof using data from the University of Oxford, and you can learn more about how they put everything together here.

Is your job likely to be taken by a robot? How many of us are “totally safe” vs. “doomed?”
