Hold Onto Your Bed Bath & Beyond Coupons For Dear Life

Time to buy a Vitamix!

Some curious news for lovers of coupons and home goods: The Wall Street Journal reports that Bed Bath & Beyond is trying to move beyond(LOL) the coupons we all know and love towards something a little more like Amazon Prime. The new system is called “Beyond+” and is a subscription based model that lets consumers pay $29 a year for free shipping and offers 20% off all purchases. What will happen to the coupons?!

Bed Bath Tries to Move Beyond the Coupon

“The coupon is clearly and has been strongly associated with us,” Chief Executive Steven Temares said on the retailer’s recent earnings call. “But really, we need to be working and we are working on becoming a lot more intelligent about our marketing and making it much more personalized.”

Here’s the thing. While this is certainly fabulous for their bottom line and clearly the reason they’re moving towards this model is to, you know, make more money, I certainly hope this doesn’t mean the end of coupons forever. A Bed Bath and Beyond 20% coupon is a wonderful thing to keep on you at all times! You can easily kill an hour and change before meeting someone for a movie touching humidifers and contemplating bedsheets and if you’re inspired to actually purchase something, you can dig into your bag, pull out the coupon and pat yourself on the back for saving some money.

For now, the coupons are still valid and if you consult the stack of coupons you have sitting on your desk or shoved in a utility drawer, you will see that they never expire. Hoard them for now, my pets. Who knows what the future holds?
