Checking In With My Savings Plan: August Edition

In August, I received $8,553.89 in freelance payments. Here’s what I put in my sub-savings accounts:
Taxes got 22 percent, or $1,881.86.
Debt got 20 percent, or $1,710.78.
Savings got 10 percent, or $855.39.
I also added another $25.40 to my savings account so I could get this:

That left $4,080.46 for my checking account. I won’t detail how I spent every penny, but I did spend a lot of them. My overhead costs were $1,866, as follows:
- $995 on rent
- $246 on health insurance
- $394 on groceries
- $81 on internet
- $97 on smartphone
- $18 on electric
- $15 on renters insurance
- $20 on public transportation
I also donated $150 to various charities, spent $51 getting my hair cut, and spent an unbelievable $1,145.40 on airfare, a two-night hotel stay, and an Amtrak ride so I can fly to New York to see Hamilton with friends and then visit my sister and her family in Silver Spring, Maryland. (My beloved Pod Hotel cost $627.20 for two nights. FOR A POD.)
So yeah, that’s where my money went, this month.
