The Cost of Realizing You Booked Your Hotel Room for the Wrong Weekend

$204.11.

The hotel I thought I had booked for San Diego Comic-Con weekend (which I actually booked for the weekend after San Diego Comic-Con weekend) ran me $437.05 for two nights, and my rebooking at a different hotel cost me $641.16 after a 15 percent discount followed by a 10 percent discount because Hotels.com really wanted me to book this place.

It might have cost that much anyway, though, had I booked the correct dates the first time. I wonder if I paid slightly less because I made this booking at the last minute.

Also, last year I paid $740.26 for two nights in San Diego over Comic-Con weekend (although I ended up changing part of that booking to stay with friends and only spent $442.21 total), so maybe I’m getting a deal here.

The funniest thing is that I booked my hotel room weeks ahead of time, and it was only right when I was getting into bed Wednesday night for my 5 a.m. Thursday wake-up that I suddenly thought “Get out of bed. You booked your hotel room for the wrong weekend.”

So that’s how much it cost me.
