Charting Your Percentages of Pay Spent on Housing Responses

I went through your comments in our “What Percentage of Your Take-Home Pay Do You Spend on Rent” post and made a quick scatter graph based on your responses. Some of the outliers: One commenter mentioned that she or he lives rent-free in a unique living situation, which is why there’s one response at 0 percent. On the opposite end, one commenter mentioned that he spent about 70 percent of his take-home pay (and 100 percent of his wife’s pay) to pay off their home in full in seven years. Each of those responses and plot points came with a specific story on why the percentage is the way it is. It’s great to read about and see the diversity in the numbers. We’re all doing money differently, and that’s perfectly okay. (Higher res here.)
