Monday Check-In

It’s Monday, which means it’s time to check in on our weekend spending.

I had another no-spend weekend, thanks in part to the public library. (Did you see that Forbes story about how libraries don’t need to exist now that we’ve got Amazon? I’d share the link, except it appears the story got pulled after it went viral.)

I one-hundred-percent recommend Mira Grant’s Into the Drowning Deep, which is a bit like Jurassic Park plus Titanic — a History-Channel-esque company puts a bunch of scientists on a luxury ship and sends them off to the Mariana Trench to search for mermaids; something much more terrifying finds them instead — as well as Alissa Quart’s Squeezed: Why Our Families Can’t Afford America, which I will officially review later today.

Total spending: $0.

How about you?
