Do(ula) 1 Thing

Thursday is a great day to do that 1 thing you don’t want to do but also don’t want to continue thinking about doing.

Morning do-ers. I did my doula training in New York, but haven’t made any progress in finding clients or organizations in Toronto, despite staring wistfully yet responsibly at every pregnant lady on the subway. I was hoping to attend a friend’s birth in January, but the dumb baby did not adhere to our plans. Babies, man!

Anyway, after reading Elisa Albert in New York Magazine last week, I was reminded that this — the freedom to pursue a more alternative career — was one of the reasons I moved back to Canada, so it’s time to get more serious. Today, I’ll sign up with a Toronto-based doula organization to start attending meetings and open myself up for volunteer opportunities. Babies, I’m coming for you.

What 1 thing will you do?
