3. ‘He doesn’t like how I spend money.’

Jessica Walsh and Timothy Goodman are good friends who both found themselves single at the same time. So they decided to date each other. And document it for 40 days. Because why not?

On the very first day of dating, they learned about the financial backgrounds of their families, which is interesting to me since they were already friends (the things we keep from each other):

Did you learn anything new about Jessica?

We talked about our families more than we ever did before. I didn’t know that her parents grew up poor. It was refreshing to hear this since I didn’t grow up with a lot of money, either.

On the second day, they took a huge leap and went to couples therapy together to figure out if they were attracted to each other (yes). And then this:

She then asked why we’ve never tried dating in the four years we’ve known each other. Tim immediately rattled out numerous reasons:

1. He’s not at a place in his life where he wants to settle down.
2. He loves the freedom of the single life.
3. He doesn’t like how I spend money.
4. He sees it as a weakness that I love love.
5. He’s afraid of his commitment issues and doesn’t want to hurt me since he respects me.
6. He doesn’t want to risk our friendship.

They’ve still got 15 more days to reveal to us.
