Monday Check-In

One great thing about estimating our weekends and checking in on Monday is seeing how close we were to our projections. Being aware of how much money we have and how much money we intend to spend can help keep us from overspending. It’s such a simple thing, but “where did all my money go?” can be something that happens to the best of us.

Which is why the second great thing about estimating our weekends is doing everything you said you were planning on doing, and spending much less than you expected to spend, which is what happened to me this weekend. Instead of spending $30 at the bar on Friday night for a birthday, I spent $14 ($6.50 for a Guinness, $4 for a Sam Adams, plus tip) because the birthday girl was drinking free at the bar all night. As you can see from the photo, we also got to sit at one of those tables with its own tap, which was pretty amazing. After drinks, I spent $9 for some grub at the Shake Shack.

On Saturday, I stayed in to get some work done, and spent $35 at the grocery store. Brunch on Sunday ended up being paid for by my friends as a thank you for helping them out by cat-sitting this week. I brought $40 worth of cheese to a BBQ in the afternoon, but was able to pay for it with a gift card from Murray’s Cheese I got for my birthday, so it was basically free.

Weekend estimation: $130
Actual weekend spending: $58

And how were your weekends?
