Last night, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver made TV history with the biggest giveaway of all time: under the auspices of a shell corporation, Oliver purchased and then forgave $16 million worth of medical debt in Texas.

Nicole reminded me of similar efforts on the part of Rolling Jubilee: to date, they’ve abolished $31,982,455.76 of debt.

It’s a drop in the bucket, but still: we salute you.
