Today’s Morning Beverage Brought to You By
This guy on a tiny bike who dropped a bunch of cash on the sidewalk. I found it. Then I saw him a little bit ahead of me, looking in his pockets for what I assume was the cash that was on the ground in front of me. I picked up the cash and walked in the direction I was already walking, but slightly faster, so I could catch up to him and say, “I think you dropped this.” He was so relieved and happy.
He said, “Thank you so much.” I said, “No problem” and kept walking. 1 block later he rode up beside me on his tiny bike and handed me five dollars and said, “This is for you. Thank you so much. Buy yourself a coffee or a bagel.” At first I said, “No thanks, you don’t have to do that,” and then his hand was still offering five dollars, so I said, “Okay thanks, have a great day,” and took the five dollars and put it in my pocket and walked another two blocks to a coffee shop where I purchased a kombucha with it.
Thanks for dropping your money and then giving me some of it, guy on a tiny bike. Also I only considered keeping the wad of cash I found on the street for a split second, and only after thinking first that the cash was probably glued to the ground and there was a TV crew somewhere. It occurs to me now that it’s also totally possible that the cash wasn’t the tiny bike man’s cash at all, but I’ve already thought about this way too much.
