We Need a Kickstarter for Abortions (Federal Abortion Funding Would Probably Also Work)

A 16-year-old in Kentucky writes to RH Reality Check for advice: She needs an abortion, but Kentucky requires parental consent which she can’t get, and also she doesn’t have any money. You know, because she’s 16 (and also already has a baby). The response explaining the hoops she’s going to have to jump through takes 3,100 words.

The best part, if you like dark humor, is where the writer says, “These are the abortion providers in your state,” and then lists two places. Two (2).

The second best part is where she explains that most abortion funding is supplemental and won’t cover the entire cost of the procedure. Suggestions for where to get money: selling your stuff, asking friends, asking “whoever you had sex with (if this was consensual sex).”
