Fast Food Strikes Spreading

Fast food workers in St. Louis staged a surprise strike yesterday similar to the ones in Chicago and NYC in the past month. Josh Eidelson has a super report about some of the people involved, including the story of a pregnant woman planning to work up until the birth because she can’t afford unpaid maternity leave (“’It feels like it’s set up for us to fail, and I don’t want to keep failing…’ And so when organizers from the union campaign first came to talk to her at her store, ‘I was like, Wow, what took you guys so long?’”)
