Monetary Discourse on the L Train: Coercion

Two women in their late twenties are discussing another friend. The friend is planning a big trip, location unknown. One woman says: “You won’t believe this, but she doesnt have a credit card!” (The second woman seems to believe it.) “I told her, you HAVE to get a credit card. What if SOMETHING HAPPENS?! It’s this extra $4,000 at your disposal! She didn’t listen, of course. You know, you should bring it up, don’t tell her I told you but just be like, what credit card are you taking? And then force her to get one! Make her!” (The second woman seems unlikely to do this.) Looking back, neither of them seemed very excited for their friend.
